Brushy Creek MUD Water Safe to Drink

Residents Do Not need to Boil their Water

Wastewater Lift Station Repair Update:

The Brushy Creek MUD Public Works team is in the process of repairing a pump at a District lift station. Lift stations are used to move wastewater from a lower elevation to a higher elevation. The lift station pump malfunctioned on Monday, January 18, causing a sewage spill near FM 620 & Smyers Lane.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires public notice including the following language: 

"Persons using private drinking water supply wells located within ½ mile of the spill site or within the potentially affected area should use only water that has been distilled or boiled at a rolling boil for at least one minute for all personal uses including drinking, cooking, bathing, and tooth brushing.  Individuals with private water wells should have their well water tested and disinfected, if necessary, prior to discontinuing distillation and boiling."

Brushy Creek MUD residents do NOT use private drinking water supply wells within 1/2 mile of the spill site, and do NOT need to boil water.
