Dear Brushy Creek residents:
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to you, our residents, for all the ways in which you continue to make our community outstanding and exemplify The Brushy Creek Life.
We are also extremely grateful for your continued cooperation and understanding as we navigate the ongoing challenges related to our water supply. Your dedication to conservation and support during these times is sincerely appreciated.
We acknowledge that it might seem conflicting to remain under Stage 2 drought restrictions, particularly in light of the recent rainfall that has generously blessed our region. We want you to know that we understand the inconvenience this may cause. However, it’s imperative for us to adhere to these measures despite the increased rainfall collectively.
The primary reason behind our decision to maintain Stage 2 drought restrictions is the status of our main water source, Lake Georgetown, which is within the Brazos River Authority Water Supply System. While the recent rains have been a boon to our surroundings, Lake Georgetown’s capacity remains at 46.3% as of Nov. 29. BRA guidelines still show this level is notably lower than what is necessary to bring us out of Stage 2 restrictions.
As stewards of our community’s water resources, it is our responsibility to ensure a sustainable supply for both the present and the future. While the recent rains have alleviated some pressure, the levels in our main reservoir remain far from ideal.
We recognize the efforts each of you has made to conserve water and manage consumption, and we are immensely grateful for your contributions. By collectively adhering to these restrictions, we are safeguarding our water resources and ensuring a more sustainable future for our community.
Thank you for your unwavering cooperation.
