Notice Regarding Round Rock ISD Portable School Building Relocation Project Along Great Oaks Drive

A Round Rock ISD representative said the school district will take a new route for the portable building relocation project, avoiding as much of Great Oaks Drive as possible. The portable mover will now turn left on O'Connor from Great Oaks Drive.

The representative stated the move will begin Monday evening, June 17, and an arborist will trim any concerning tree branches along the route prior to relocating the portable.

The RRISD representative stated the reroute requires a police escort because the driver must go in the wrong direction of traffic.

Dear Brushy Creek Residents and Property Owners:

We are writing to inform the Brushy Creek Community about a proposed project from Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) to relocate six portable school buildings. The buildings will be transported from Brushy Creek Elementary School along Great Oaks Drive to Hwy. 620. BCMUD is partnering with RRISD on this RRISD project to inform residents of the potential impact this staggered building relocation may have on the community and to protect District assets.

Dates for Building Relocation:  RRISD anticipates that the relocation project may commence the last week of June and continue into the first week of July, weather permitting.

RRISD stated five of the buildings will be transported after 10 p.m. to comply with City of Round Rock regulations. One portable building is larger and must be transported in two sections. RRISD stated those two sections will likely be transported between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Route:  From Brushy Creek Elementary School to Highway 620

Number of Buildings to be Relocated:  6

Potential Impact on Adjacent Residents and Property Owners:  In addition to noise, it is possible that any tree limbs that interfere with transportation of the buildings will be trimmed to facilitate passage or may otherwise be damaged.

Tree Trimming and Repairs:  BCMUD has communicated its concerns regarding potential damage to trees and tree limbs located in the Great Oaks Drive right-of-way that may be impacted by the project.  Per Williamson County Road and Bridge specifications, BCMUD maintains trees in the Great Oaks Drive median to a height of 14 feet. Additionally, BCMUD will trim any trees in the median that could potentially suffer damage from the portable buildings while they are in transit.

BCMUD does not maintain the trees in the public right-of-way areas outside of the medians (i.e., between the road pavement and adjacent property owners). BCMUD has communicated its concerns to RRISD regarding the impact of the project on these trees. RRISD representatives indicate that upon completion of the project, RRISD will consult with a certified arborist to inspect and address any damage caused to trees.
