7/30/2024 - NOTICE: Explanation of Brushy Creek MUD residents' access to Round Rock Public Library

Dear Brushy Creek MUD residents,

Brushy Creek MUD would like  to clarify some details regarding access to the Round Rock Public Library for residents of Brushy Creek MUD.

Although Brushy Creek MUD addresses fall within the City of Round Rock, our MUD operates under the Texas Water Code. Our primary mission is to provide essential services such as water delivery, wastewater removal, and stormwater management. Additionally, we have limited authority to offer parks and recreational services.

It's important to note that library services are not among those that the MUD is empowered to provide under the Texas Water Code. Revenues collected through taxes or utilities cannot be allocated towards supporting library services, and BCMUD residents do not pay taxes that go toward the Round Rock library system.

Recently, the Round Rock City Council implemented a tiered membership system for Round Rock Public Library patrons residing outside the city limits or within special districts like Brushy Creek MUD. This tiered system ensures that Brushy Creek MUD residents still have access to many library services at no charge, including checking out books.

For those interested in more extensive library privileges, such as room reservations, placing items on hold, and accessing e-books, a full-access membership is available for an annual fee of $120. This membership option provides additional conveniences that may be beneficial depending on your needs.

For further details about these membership options, we encourage you to contact the Round Rock Public Library directly at 512-218-5400 or visit their website at https://www.roundrocktexas.gov/city-departments/library-home/how-do-i/get-a-card/.
