4/5/2023 - Parks and Recreation Summer Brief
Dear Brushy Creek Community,
We would like to share some exciting news about the district’s parks and recreation program and activities.
With the District's robust summer schedule of programs and offerings approaching, the team has been very busy recruiting, hiring, and training 60+ seasonal team members to staff Camp Foxtail, Combo Camp, and lifeguard our four pools. To remain competitive in the marketplace, the District has developed creative recruitment plans and increased wages to attract applicants – and we continue to evaluate and consider new strategies. Staffing shortages in the marketplace continue to present challenges for everyone along with the rising cost of living and the competitive local job market. However, we feel that the adjustments we made to the pay rates for seasonal team members will enable us to once again hire the high-quality team members needed to provide The programs and services at the same level of excellence our residents and members want and deserve.
Given these adjustments and other inflationary costs, the District cannot ignore the financial impact and has evaluated areas where we can reduce spending but still offer quality programming. As a result of this evaluation, residents and members will notice small changes in programs and event offerings as well as a slight reduction in pool and community center hours. In making these decisions, our evaluation included a review of associated costs and participation levels to ensure that these changes will have minimal impact on your experiences. Our goal is to deliver quality programs and activities in a cost-efficient manner; and our review will be ongoing to ensure that we meet these goals which help support the Brushy Creek Life.
The District remains dedicated to providing its residents and members the highest quality of living, and your experience at our pools, community center, and programs matter.
